Nigel Farage waves to supporters as he leaves Westminster after Brexit speech
Chaos ensued as Boris Johnson crashed out of Theresa May’s debut speech to business leaders in Singapore.
The Foreign Secretary was expected to give a grilling on Brexit, but the speaking slot was taken by former Conservative Party leader and EU Brexiteer, Nigel Farage.
Mr Farage attempted to start a scene from Monty Python’s “Spamalot” about how May can be knocked out of Downing Street.
During the London Business Leaders Tour that follows the Farnborough International Airshow, May will tell business leaders that “No deal will not be an option”.
May will deliver a speech at the Royal University of Singapore (RUS) at 1:50pm, and has just got off stage after an energetic address by Mr Farage.
Mr Farage’s presence was unexpected and she struggled to keep the thousands of business leaders on their feet when he started taking the rostrum.
A fake spaniel, a man on a fake tie – you would not have expected much better but you do not need to expect much more than “chaos” as British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson was spectacularly lost for words and removed from the stage.
After his wife, Marina Wheeler, wiped a tear from her eye as he walked out of the stage, and retreated to his wife’s seat, Mr Johnson tried to field some questions from the business leaders and was kept at a distance for most of his speech.
Mr Johnson’s dry delivery was often drowned out by crowd noise but when the laughter died down he was cheered by the business leaders, even though some politely clapped.
He ended the speech by saluting all the doubters and naysayers who had the temerity to doubt that Britain could leave the EU.
